OUR CAUSE
Founded in 2016, World in Focus is a youth-led, non-profit organization that seeks to aid individuals of all ages around the world so that they have more accessible eye care.
We fundraise money to raise awareness for the necessity of eyesight, to support treatments for congenital eye diseases, and to supply prescription glasses and contact lenses for students who otherwise would not be able to access them. In addition to fundraising, we are committed to raising awareness for this issue both locally and globally. Since our founding, we have organized over 20 fundraising and awareness events, raising a total of over $8000, while engaging people in our community and reaching people internationally.
Providing affordable and available healthcare is the first step to breaking the seemingly infinite cycle of poverty. Giving people the gift of sight will open doors to opportunities for future development, well-being, and prosperity. World in Focus strives to challenge the stereotypes that our society has towards underprivileged countries and support individuals who need it the most.

Dene had been blind in his right eye for as long as he could remember. He was ridiculed for his blindness for bullies and was unable to stay in school. Dene was a quiet, fearless boy as he entered the operating room on October 12, 2017. When his patch was taken off, he looked around with a look of astonishment on his face. Dene is excited to go back to school and become a teacher when he's older.

Whelai had a cataract in his left eye for two years and could not attend school because of it. He came to the operation with his father, and never looked up the entire time–he was very shy. Whelai is most looking forward to returning to school and making friends, and he now wants to be a doctor when he grows up.
